Beginning the day after Labor Day and running through the following weekend, the South Carolina Apple Festival celebrates the beginning of apple harvest season in Oconee County, the largest apple-producing area in the state.
Schedule of Events:
11:00 a.m. -- Apple Baking Contest
Historic Westminster Depot. Entries accepted 9-10 a.m. Judging begins at 11 a.m.
Ages 5 - 12 - 1st place $30 / 2nd place $20
Ages 13 - 17 - 1st place $30 / 2nd place $20
Ages 18 & up - 1st place $50 / 2nd place $40 / 3rd place $30
5:30-8:00 p.m. -- Live Entertainment
Apple Festival Pavilion, Main Street. Food vendors will include Boy Scouts (barbecue), Holly Springs Baptist Church (hamburgers and hot dogs), Phil Coker (Sno Cones), and Lisa Heath (funnel cakes).
6:30-7:00 p.m. -- Mr. & Miss Apple Dumpling Children's Pageant
Contestants will raise money to be named the winner of the Tiny Miss Apple Dumplin' (under age 5), Little Miss Apple Dumplin' (ages 6-9), Tiny Mr. Apple Dumplin' and Little Mr. Apple Dumplin' titles. Entry fee of $25 due before August 30, 2019.
