Scott Boudin Festival
Why Boudin? In 2012, City of Scott's mayor at the time, Purvis Morrison, lobbied at the Louisiana State Legislature for Scott to be designated the Boudin Capital of the World considering the impact of Boudin sales and production on Scott's local economy. However, the title did not come easy to Scott. Jennings, LA and Broussard, LA both vied for the title, but at the time Scott sold 1.5 Million pounds of Boudin each year, out-selling both Jennings and Broussard. With this designation, Mayor Morrison knew the City of Scott had to celebrate this new title, in true South Louisiana fashion, with a festival!!! Morrison founded the Scott Boudin Festival Association, Incorporated and brought together a hand-selected group of dedicated community members to establish the founding Board of Directors. From there the Scott Boudin Festival was born! Since 2012 when Scott earned the title of Boudin Capital of the World and created the Scott Boudin Festival Association, Boudin sales in Scott have continued to climb. There are six primary boudin vendors in Scott, LA: Don's Specialty Meats, Best Stop Cajun Grocery, Billy's Boudin, Nunu's Grocery, Romero's Grocery, and Menard's Cajun Grocery. Among only these six vendors over 2.2 Million pounds of boudin are sold per year.
